McDonald Highland Games, October 6-8th. Join us at the SCOT
Booth for the 30th annual Flora McDonald Highland Games

International
Festival, November 4th and 5th at Dorton Areana. SCOT will
again host a cultural and concession booth. This is a great
opportunity to meet other members and prospective members.

Exploris
Event, Saturday, December 16th. Hogmanay comes early to
Raleigh. SCOT will sponsor a day-long Hogmanay event at
the Exploris Museum (noon until 4 PM). We were invited to
staff a booth, produce a short skit, and provide dancing
and piping entertainment for an annual event at Exploris
titled "Holidays Around the World." Please come

First Night Celebration, Night of Renewal, 8-10PM, December
31st, Museum of History, Raleigh, NC. Dr. Michael Newton
and colleagues including SCOT member Amy Mooney will perform
in a show that tells the story of the history and folklife
of two North Carolina communities: African Americans and
the Scottish Highlanders. For information, contact Michael

Burns
Night Dinner and bus trip, Saturday, January 27, Country
Squire Inn in Kenansville. Come join us for a real Burns
Night Dinner. The first 50 SCOT members who sign up will
enjoy a lively bus trip from Cary to Kenansville, a wonderful
dinner holding to the true traditions of Burns' Night. Sign-up

"Scotch-Hop"
February 17, Kirk of Kildaire. This will be a family activity
where SCOT members can come, in casual clothing, to learn
easy and fun "ceilidh" dances. A potluck dinner
will be included with SCOT providing the paper products
and drinks. SCOT members will be free. Non-SCOT members

Whisky Tasting Saturday February 24th. Back by popular demand
with a new format. Craig Hill will host this event. We will
likely be at Greenshields in Cary because of the great job

St.
Patrick's Day Float- March 17, 2007. Carolyn Graf and
Amy Mooney will work on this together. Carolyn will check
to see if it is ok to add SCOT's web address to the sign
on the float. She or Amy will contact David Coulter about
piping (on the float) for the dancers.
Ceilidh- March 17, 2007. Our 4th annual event, and one
of the most popular and fun events of the year. Contact

Cary Indoor Highland Dance and Piping Competitions and
Fiddle Workshop- March 31, 2007. Over 100 dancers from
four states competed in last years event and many stayed
for a special workshop on Sunday. An appreciate audience
saw some the most committed Highland Dancers compete in
a spirit of good fun. This year will be even better with
our first Scottish Fiddle Workshop and demonstration.

will include Christie Freestone, Sandra Weyman, and Matt

Tartan Day. Join us for three great week-ends celebrating
Tartan Day at the NC Renaissance Faire to be help on the
State Fairgrounds campus in Raleigh: SCOT will sponsor a
variety of performances over the four days (Raleigh Scottish
Country Dancers, Scottish Highland Dancing, Pipe Band, and
more). This is also a great opportunity for you to volunteer

GAELIC Myths and Mayhem: Saturday, October 28th. Time:
All Day Event Regency Pky Cary, NC
A celebration of Halloween through the ages featuring
great Halloween activities and entertainment for the whole
family. During the day, a wide variety of kids activities,
games, pumpkin carving, costume contests, candy and entertainment.
In the evening, we will kick it up a notch with great
Celtic bands and spooky happenings.
